This new cannabis capsule could replace painkillers

The health benefits of cannabis are becoming increasingly accepted in society as new studies supporting the consumption of cannabinoids are published. The legalization of cannabis for medical purposes is being made more and more countries lately in view of the results of these studies.

Although still prohibited in France as our colleagues at Figaro Santé underline,  medical cannabis is increasingly being heard in the world of medical research and can no longer be ignored as a healing solution. As reported  by Canabo Medical Clinic and The Heartysoul magazine  , cannabis capsules may one day replace painkillers.

A  March 2016 University of Michigan study published in the  Journal of Pain  provides compelling data. It demonstrates that cannabis has benefits such as:

  • Decreased side effects of other drugs
  • Better quality of life
  • Reduced use of opioids (on average) by 64%

“We learn that the higher the dose of opioids absorbed, the greater the risk of death,” said Dr. Daniel Clauw, one of the study’s researchers and professor of anesthesiology at the University of Michigan. . “The magnitude of the reduction in our study is significant enough to affect the risk of accidental death of an individual resulting from an overdose. ”
In  France , 4 people die each week because painkillers opioid-based as shown in the report published by the National Agency of Drug Safety (ANSM) which was relayed by  Le Monde.

Pain relief

The company  Foria Relief Company  invented a vaginal suppository able to relieve the pain caused by menstrual cramps.
It works by inserting the suppository into the vagina and relaxing the muscles that become tense and painful during menstrual cramps. This suppository contains exactly 60 mg tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and 10 mg cannabidiol (CBD).
THC is a known analgesic, while CBD allows you to stay relaxed. These combine to relax your muscles, inhibit spasms and stop inflammation. The best part is that it has no psychoactive properties.

Currently, this treatment is only sold in California and has not been approved by the  Food and Drug Administration .
The greatest benefit would be to replace current painkillers with harmful side effects. About  40% of French people  are addicted to analgesics.
The benefits of cannabis as an alternative medicine are still under study, but many of its positive aspects are being revealed.

Other benefits of cannabis on health

Multiple sclerosis

Short-term use of  oral cannabinoids may improve spasticity symptoms in people with  multiple sclerosis, but the positive effects have been modest.

Depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and social anxiety

A study  published in the  Clinical Psychology Review  evaluated all of the published scientific literature on the use of cannabis to treat the symptoms of mental illness.
The authors found evidence supporting the use of cannabis to relieve depression and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Evidence  suggests  that oral cannabinoids are effective against the side effects of chemotherapy.

In June 2018, the  Food and Drug Administration (FDA)  approved the use  of a drug containing cannabidiol (CBD) to treat two rare, serious and specific types of epilepsy – Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome – difficult to control with other types of drugs
